Conference Events

  • Improving JSA

    Meet, discuss, and share ideas with other JSA boards and members from across the Midwest to improve your universities JSA. Each school will have a representative present their schools JSA events, structure, and any other information the school would like to share. This will be followed by a group discussions regarding different topics.

  • Career Seminar/ Guest Speaker

    MJSA sponsors will host a seminar regarding career information at Japanese companies. (Conducted in Japanese)

    For non-Japanese speaker, speaker from JET program will be talking about his experience as a JET program alumni.

  • Wagashi Making Workshop

    Experience making Nerikiri, a type of traditional Japanese confection known as Wagashi, from Toshiko Sugii Steffes of Wagashi Studio. You get to make two pieces of Nerikiri served with green tea.

    Note: An additional $15 fee is required to attend this event.

    Explore the University of Michigan’s vibrant campus through an exciting treasure hunt, and form connections with your group members as you work together to solve a great mystery.

Travel Reimbursement

MJSA will reimburse a portion of the travel cost. The value of the reimbursement is determined by the distance from your respective university to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor multiplied by the IRS mileage rate of $0.14 per mile for a charitable organization. (per car for at least 4 people including the driver)
